Hurricane Tips

In preparation for the 2010 Hurricane Season, we suggest the following:
  • Online Banking: Sign up for Online Banking. Personal Banking was always available following Hurricane Katrina. We also offer Business Banking, our solution for our valued Business customers.
  • Free Bill Payment: If you have to evacuate you can pay your bills online.  Best of all, this service is fast, convenient and free.
  • Direct Deposit: Use Direct Deposit for Social Security or other electronic credits to your checking or savings account.
  • Checking Account: Open up a Guaranty Savings checking account. We have several different checking accounts, one of which will surely meet your needs.
  • Debit Card: Get a Guaranty Savings debit card. Our debit card can be used wherever MasterCard® is accepted and it carries all the advantages of its nation-wide network debit and ATM network.
  • Surchage-Free ATM Network: We are a member of the Allpoint ATM Network - America’s largest surcharge-free ATM network. As a GSB debit cardholder, you are able to access your funds at more than 32,000 surcharge-free ATMs nationwide.
  • Automatic payments: If you have a loan with us, sign up to make payments automatically.
  • Important Papers: Take any important insurance, legal and financial papers with you if you evacuate.
  • Photos/Video: Take photos and/or video of your property.
  • Evacuation Plans: Make your evacuation plans in advance. Consider relatives who depend on you for transportation. Be familiar with Interstate contra-flow plans.
  • Pets: Make plans for your pets such as looking up pet-friendly hotels in case an evacuation is necessary. Also have extra pet food and water on hand.
  • Prepare your home: Board up windows with plywood and move small, light outdoor items to a secure location.
  • Hurricane Kit: Whether evacuating or planning to remain home, stock your Hurricane Kit with extra cash, a generator, batteries, flash lights, a battery operated radio/television, bottled water, non-perishable foods, a can opener, a small cooler, candles, prescription medicines and over-the-counter medicines. If you have small children stock up on diapers, baby wipes, formula, and baby food.
  • Store Ice: Freeze water and pack in zip lock bags in order to accumulate as much ice as possible to store in ice coolers.

If you have to evacuate, check our website (www.guarantysb.com) for status reports. We will keep it updated with the latest information.
